Byont is a fast-growing producer of biogas. With multiple locations across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, we contribute to a more sustainable energy sector by converting organic waste streams into renewable energy. To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Mergers & Acquisitions Professional based in Hengelo, the Netherlands.

To help realize our ambitious growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced M&A professional to manage acquisition projects from initial opportunity assessment through to closing.

Your Role

As an M&A Professional, you will be part of the M&A team, reporting directly to the CEO. This means short communication lines and a direct influence on Byont's growth strategy.

You will lead acquisition processes for biogas facilities from the initial screening phase through due diligence and successful closing. Along the way, you will collaborate closely with financial advisors, legal partners, and technical experts.

What You Bring

Experience & Expertise

• At least 5 years of proven experience in M&A (buy-side, sell-side, or corporate development).
• Available to work 40 hours per week.
• Experience with due diligence, business valuation, and transaction structuring.
• Affinity with or experience in the agricultural sector or the renewable energy/biogas industry is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of energy infrastructure regulations is considered an advantage.

Personality & Drive

• Eager to learn and able to quickly develop expertise in the biomethane and bio-LNG market.
• Proactive and entrepreneurial, identifying opportunities and acting on them independently.
• Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to build lasting relationships with farmers, plant operators, and investors.
• Pragmatic and solution-oriented, capable of turning complex transactions into successful deals.

Communication

• Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
• Comfortable engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders—from farmers at their facilities to investors in the boardroom.

What You'll Do

• Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, primarily biogas plants.
• Perform financial analyses, company valuations, and investment modeling.
• Coordinate and manage financial, technical, and legal due diligence processes.
• Negotiate acquisition terms and transaction agreements.
• Work closely with and report directly to the CEO and the M&A team.
• Build and maintain a strong network within the agricultural and renewable energy sectors.
